4 Most Popular Handbag Styles

!±8± 4 Most Popular Handbag Styles

In today's market you can find many different handbag styles. The selection is absolutely amazing. You can choose from variety of colors, different shapes, materials, and sizes. All these diverse handbag styles are available for different occasions. You can decide to go with a typical rectangle or square shaped bag or you might prefer more trendy shapes such as oval or triangle. Even though these styles might look a little strange to you, today's fashion world gives them full credit for their originality and uniqueness. Between all these styles there are 4 most popular and wanted types.

4 most popular handbag styles include:

Tote Bags

The tote bags are very popular for beach or casual wear since they are usually characterized by a large open top with two handles or straps attached. They provide necessary storage space for all little treasures that a woman might need. The availability of colorful palette and a wide variety of fabrics makes these bags very attractive for every generation. The classic leather style can be used for business purpose or more versatile everyday wear.

Hobo Bags

This style of a handbag or purse is typically large and distinguished by a crescent shape and slouchy posture. Hobo bags were designed to be worn over the shoulder and usually have a long strap. Generally they are manufactured out of soft, flexible materials and tend to slump and slouch, when set down. These handbags come in different sizes to fit numerous occasions. The large, quite vibrant bags are mostly used for everyday purpose but the smaller versions could be used for parties and other events.

Baguette Style Handbags

This unique handbag was named after a popular French loaf-shaped bread "Baguette". Its specific style was developed by famous Silvia Venturini Fendi who launched it in 1997. Baguettes are slim, rectangular purses with a short strap. They can be held in one's hand or worn under the arm. Baguettes come in different sizes, colors and material. They are unique with their interesting design including gold embroidery, monogramms, and embellishments. These handbags attained a special spot in the world's fashion market.

Clutches

Clutch is the most commonly used evening handbag style. It is a small and usually long rectangular narrow shape bag that is designed to be carried in the hand. Clutch has its own spot in the handbag's world that is the cherry on top of your elegant and classy cocktail outfit. Clutches were designed to be big enough to fit your essentials for the night out such as keys, credit cards, money, cell-phone, and a smattering of cosmetics you might need. Small black or tanned clutches will definitely compliment your dress that is more daring and larger clutches are more often paired with less formal attire like jeans and boyfriend blazer.

As you can see there are many different handbag styles to choose from. You just need to match the styles to specific occasions and off you go. Handbags are part of every women's life and are absolutely number one accessory in the fashion world. We are all lucky that the world's famous designers always try to please every women's taste and launch every season the amazing pieces for us to choose from. Enrich your wardrobe with a new hobo bag for everyday use, or should you prefer something smaller just pick a new unique Fendi Baguette. Any cocktail parties booked in your diary? Small, chic and elegant evening clutch will be your best friend. And at last but not least if you want to enhance and complete your outfit before your shopping spree or beach trip, pick a colorful tote that will do the trick.

Some Fun with Antiquated Hat Terms - Part Three- 1800 - 1900

!±8± Some Fun with Antiquated Hat Terms - Part Three- 1800 - 1900

I have uncovered some obscure and unusual words while looking back at the history of hats and headdress. Having recently finished reading THE PROFESSOR AND THE MADMAN (by Simon Winchester, HarperCollins 1998) about the making of the Oxford English Dictionary, I thought it might be fun to explore the definitions and etymology of some of these ancient terms, most of which have all but disappeared from modern use. [I'll breakup this project into three or four parts, so stay tuned.]

To qualify for inclusion below, the word must show up with a squiggly red line at Microsoft Word's "spell check" tool. So here goes:
[Note: As I move into part three of this project, terms become less lost in antiquity. I have included a few words, albeit rarely used today that did show up "spell check".]

[Psyche Knot

[a. Gr. (in L. ps ch ) breath, f. to breathe, to blow, (later) to cool; hence, life (identified with or indicated by the breath); the animating principle in man and other living beings, the source of all vital activities, rational or irrational, the soul or spirit, in distinction from its material vehicle, the or body; sometimes considered as capable of persisting in a disembodied state after separation from the body at death.

In Mythology, personified as in 1c. By Plato and other philosophers extended to the anima mundi, conceived to animate the general system of the universe, as the soul animates the individual organism. By St. Paul (developing a current Jewish distinction between rua , , spirit or breath, and nephesh, , soul) used for the lower or merely natural life of man, shared with other animals, in contrast with the or spirit, conceived as a higher element due to divine influence supervening upon the original constitution of unregenerate human nature: see PSYCHIC a. 2, PSYCHICAL 2. (For this and other developments in pre-Christian Judaism, and the N.T. writings, see R. H. Charles, Hist. of the Doctrine of a Future Life, 1899.)]

1. The soul, or spirit, as distinguished from the body; the mind.
1658 SIR T. BROWNE Hydriot. iv. 61 Why the Psyche or soul of Tiresias is of the masculine gender. 1794 SULLIVAN View Nat. II. 279 The two essentials in the composition of all sublunary things were, by the ancient Greeks, termed psyche and hyle, that is, spiritus et materia, soul and body. 1877 tr. Virchow in Tyndall Fragm. Sc. (1879) II. xv. 407 If I explain attraction and repulsion as exhibitions of mind, as psychical phenomena, I simply throw the Psyche out of the window, and the Psyche ceases to be a Psyche. 1879 LEWES Study Psychol. 73 The most accredited [ancient] thinkers not only detached Man from Nature, but the Mind from the Organism; they invented a Psyche as the source of all mental phenomena. 1888 New Princeton Rev. Mar. 272 Psychology is the science of the psyche or soul. 1896 P. GARDNER Sculptured Tombs Hellas 24 The psyche, to Homer, is not in the least like the Christian Soul, but is a shadowy double of the man, wanting alike in force and wisdom. 1905 E. J. DILLON in Contemp. Rev. Aug. 287 It is difficult to realise the position and to picture the psyche of Rozhdestvensky [the Russian admiral who fired on the North Sea fishing fleet].

b. The animating principle of the universe as a whole, the soul of the world or anima mundi.
1647 H. MORE Song of Soul Notes 138/2 Such is the entrance of Psyche into the body of the Vniverse, kindling and exciting the dead mist. 1678 CUDWORTH Intell. Syst. I. iv. §21. 388 This is taken by Plotinus to be the Eternal Psyche, that actively produceth All Things, in this Lower World, according to those Divine Ideas. Ibid. §23. 406 But in other places..he frequently asserts, above the Self~moving Psyche an Immovable and Standing Nous or Intellect, which was properly the Demiurgus.

c. In later Greek Mythol., personified as the beloved of Eros (Cupid or Love), and represented in works of art as having butterfly wings, or as a butterfly; known in literature as the heroine of the story related in the Golden Ass of Apuleius. Hence attrib. in sense 'like that of Psyche', as in Psyche-knot (of hair), Psyche-mould, Psyche task.
1876 GEO. ELIOT Dan. Der. lxi, In the Psyche-mould of Mirah's frame there rested a fervid quality of emotion sometimes rashly supposed to require the bulk of a Cleopatra. 1888 A. R. DIEHL Two Thousand Words 170 Psyche knot, the style of wearing the hair in a projecting coil in the middle of the back of the head. 1895 S. B. KENNEDY in Outing (U.S.) Oct. 8/2 Do you think this Psyche knot suits the special cut of my features? 1901 Westm. Gaz. 28 May 2/4 After many Psyche tasks Fate-encumbered now unravelled, Hoping there's no more to do. 1904 Ibid. 30 Nov. 4/2, I am not quite sure I know what is 'a Psyche knot', which was what the lady's jet-black hair was transformed to. 1968 J. 80s Shirts for Men: What's In and What's Hot

!±8± 80s Shirts for Men: What's In and What's Hot

Ranging from tees to polos, 80s shirts for males were often made with bright and warm colors. The shirt was the main focus of an outfit and indeed defined the style of the decade.

80s T Shirts: Style and Designs

The 1980 was filled with a wide selection of fashion styles for men. There were men who opted for the preppy look while some of them turned into the 'Miami Vice' style of dressing. No matter which design they choose from, one thing was in common, the 1980s gave birth to some of the popular trends that can still be seen in the fashion industry these days.

Some of the most popular designs for 80s t shirts include:

· Hawaiian shirts were popular in the 1980s and were often worn under a sport coat or alone. Most Hawaiian shirts were worn even without a necktie.

· Having a casual shirt hidden under a designer jacket was also a fad in the 80s. This look was popularized by Don Johnson with the hit TV series 'Miami Vice'.

· Michael Jackson was also a popular men fashion trend setter in the 1980s. Oversized shirts with slouch shoulders, puffy sleeves and leather studded jackets were popular male fashion trends. Thanks to the 'King of Pop'!

· Leather bomb jackets were in the rage for this decade. Known as a component of daily wear, leather jackets just appeared anywhere from the corporate workplace to disco hubs.

· The 'preppy look' was also a very familiar trend in the 80s. Men often wore button down oxford shirts, sweater vest, argyle sweaters and polo shirts with collars buttoned up. Some of these styles may still be seen in today's fashion.

· Men wearing sweaters over their shoulders tied loosely on the neck was also a common scenario in the 80s. This was also known as the 'ultimate preppy look'.

Shirt Colors & Logos

Colors were a big statement for the 1980s fashion. Some of the most popular men's shirt colors in the 80s include yellow, lime green and pink. Logos were also 'in the rage' this year with Polo, Guess, Benetton, Gap, Levi, and Izod dominating the t shirt industry.

There are plenty of shirts in the market these days that resemble the 1980s designs and styles. For vintage and authentic 80s shirts, try to check your attic or maybe head to a yard sale.

The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When home-steading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection.

Slouch Boots - Comfortable Style

!±8± Slouch Boots - Comfortable Style

A cute pair of slouch boots can compliment a lot of outfits while allowing you to be comfortable and confident at the same time. While stiletto boots and dressy patent leather styles do have their place in your wardrobe, a nice pair of suede slouch knee highs can be a great way to mix things up. If you're tired of wearing your usual form fitting leather boots, it may be time to consider adding a soft and supple pair of slouch boots to your shoe collection.

Knee Highs
The most common style of slouch footwear is the knee high style. Chances are that they're exactly what you picture when you hear the words slouch boots. Most of these types of shoes are made of soft and warm suede or faux suede materials, but they can occasionally be found in regular leather as well. Knee high slouch styles can be found in a variety of colors, and come in both flat, heel and wedge styles.

These types of shoes are great for cold weather and look stunning with long skirts or dresses, as well as pants.

Ankle Styles
Slouch ankle boots are another popular style that are versatile, and unlike regular ankle boots which usually don't go well with skirts, slouches can often be paired with skirts for a cute outfit as well as with pants. Ankle high slouches are often made of leather or suede and usually have a short, chunky heel although flat styles can be found as well.

Ankle slouches also look great when paired with tights or skinny jeans that can be tucked into the boot allowing your shoes to show their full glory to the world.

Slouch Heels
If you're looking for slouch boots with a heel, there are several options available to you in ankle and knee high styles, although you may have an easier time finding shorter styles. While knee high slouches with heels aren't as common as ankle styles, they do still exist. Most knee high heels will be found in leather or fake leather, but some designers also offer suede options as well. These shoes will usually have thicker heels that are around two inches high, but stiletto styles can be found as well.

When it comes to ankle styles, it's almost as though the opposite is true. You will find more options with heels in both short and tall heights than you will find with flat soled designs.

Regardless of your personal style, a pair of suede or soft leather slouch shoes can offer a comfortable yet classy alternative to their high heeled patent leather cousins. If you are looking for a pair of warm and friendly boots to wear to work, to dinner or even to the grocery store, slouch boots may interest you.
